Why use this instead of double-clicking?
It is handy on locked-down work computers, phones and tablets, or when you want to peek inside a ZIP and pull out just a few files instead of unpacking everything.
Are password-protected ZIPs supported?
Yes. A password field appears when the ZIP is encrypted. Your password never leaves the browser.
Some file names look garbled.
ZIPs created by very old tools may store names in a non-UTF-8 encoding, which can display incorrectly. The file contents still extract fine — save and rename them.
Is it safe?
Extraction happens entirely inside your browser (WebAssembly), so files never travel over the network. Once the page is loaded, it even works offline.
